The three terms mean different things
UL Recognized. A specific, tested label construction (stock plus adhesive plus print method) approved for marking regulated equipment. It is a certification of the label itself, applied for and maintained by the label manufacturer. If your product needs a UL Recognized marking, you need a supplier who holds that certification for the exact construction.
OSHA compliant. OSHA and the ANSI Z535 standards govern the *content* of a safety label: the signal word (DANGER, WARNING, CAUTION), the colours associated with each, the hazard symbol, the message wording and where the label is placed. Any durable label stock can carry a compliant message; compliance lives in the design, not the vinyl.
UV rated / UV resistant. A durability claim about resistance to fading in sunlight. Laminated printed vinyl is UV stable for years outdoors, which is what most people mean when they ask for a UV rated sticker.
What printed vinyl labels are genuinely good for
- Asset and equipment identification, including barcodes and serial numbers
- Instruction, maintenance-interval and inspection labels
- General warning and informational labels following ANSI Z535 colours and wording
- Property-of, do-not-remove, and inventory tags
- Rack, bin, shelf and panel labelling
When to go elsewhere
If a regulator, certifier or customer specification names a certified label construction - UL Recognized, CSA, a specific MIL spec, or an approved-supplier list - order from a supplier certified for it. We would rather tell you that up front than have a label fail an audit.

- OSHA compliance depends on the wording, colour, symbol and placement of the message, not on the label stock. We print durable laminated vinyl labels; designing the message to ANSI Z535 is your call, and we are happy to lay out artwork you supply.
- Do you make UL Recognized labels?
- No. UL Recognized is a certified label construction held by the manufacturer. If your equipment marking requires it, use a supplier certified for that construction.
- What does UV rated actually mean on a sticker?
- It means the print resists fading in sunlight. That comes from UV-stable inks plus a laminate over them, which is how we build every outdoor sticker.
