How do I apply a sticker without bubbles?
Clean the surface with isopropyl alcohol, let it dry, then peel and place one edge first and press outward from the center with a squeegee or credit card. For anything larger than about 6 inches, use the wet method: mist with soapy water, position, then squeegee the fluid out.
Dry method (small stickers)
- Clean with 70% isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth. Household cleaners leave a silicone film that kills adhesion.
- Let it dry completely.
- Peel the backing fully away, do not fold the sticker onto itself.
- Touch down one edge, then lower the rest slowly while pressing outward from that edge.
- Rub the whole surface firmly for 15 seconds.
- Wait 24 hours before washing or exposing it to weather.
Wet method (large decals, glass, vehicles)
- Mix water with one drop of dish soap in a spray bottle.
- Mist the surface generously.
- Peel and float the decal into position; the fluid lets you slide it.
- Squeegee from the center outward in overlapping strokes to push the fluid out.
- Wait 24 to 48 hours for the residual moisture to evaporate and the adhesive to grab.
Fixing bubbles
Small bubbles under about 1/8 inch usually self-release within a week as the adhesive wets out. Larger ones: prick the edge of the bubble with a pin and press the air toward the hole. Never pull the sticker back up to reposition after the adhesive has set, you will stretch it.
Transfer tape
Multi-piece decals, lettering and large logos ship with application tape holding everything in register. Apply the whole assembly, squeegee, then peel the tape back at a sharp angle, slowly, at roughly 180 degrees against itself.
