How much does a large decal for a trailer or truck cost?
| Pricing basis | Printed square footage |
|---|---|
| Material | Laminated vinyl, 5+ year outdoor rating |
| Full wrap alternative | Spot graphics cost far less |
| Quote turnaround | Same or next business day |
Decal vs wrap, and why the price gap is so wide
A full wrap covers every panel of the vehicle, so you pay for the whole surface area plus a long, skilled install. A decal set covers only the graphics: a logo panel, a phone number, a DOT number, a tagline down the side. On a 30-foot trailer that is often less than 10% of the surface, which is why spot graphics are the standard choice for service fleets.
What drives the price
- Printed square footage. The only real driver. A 4ft x 8ft logo panel is 32 sq ft.
- Number of pieces. Lettering split into words costs more to produce and install than one panel.
- Material. Laminated print vinyl for logos; cut vinyl lettering where a solid color will do.
- Install. DIY with wet application is realistic for flat trailer sides. Curved and riveted panels are worth a professional.
How to get an exact number fast
Measure the panel you want covered, note the vehicle and surface (flat aluminum, riveted, corrugated, painted steel), and send that with your artwork. We quote from real dimensions rather than a generic per-vehicle rate, so you are not paying for coverage you do not want.
Practical advice for fleets
- Standardize one panel size across the fleet and reorder that size; volume pricing applies.
- Keep DOT and unit numbers as separate small decals so a truck change does not mean reprinting the logo.
- Always laminate. Highway grit and truck-wash brushes destroy unlaminated print in a season.
Related questions
- Can I install a large trailer decal myself?
- On flat panels, yes. Use wet application with soapy water, hinge the decal with tape, and squeegee from the center outward. Riveted and corrugated surfaces need heat and experience.
- Do you print DOT and USDOT number decals?
- Yes. Those are small, high-contrast lettering decals and we print them to the size your state requires.
