Do clear stickers work on windows and glass?

Yes, clear vinyl works well on glass and is our standard choice for storefront hours, logos and bottle labels. If the graphic must read from inside the building, order it reverse printed for second-surface application. For temporary displays, static cling needs no adhesive at all.

First surface vs second surface

First surface means the sticker goes on the outside of the glass and reads correctly from outside. Simple, and what most people want.

Second surface means it goes on the inside of the glass and reads correctly from outside. The artwork must be mirrored, and the ink sits behind the glass, protected from weather, vandalism and cleaning. Ideal for storefront doors and vehicle interiors. Just say "reverse print" in the order notes.

Static cling

No adhesive at all, it holds by surface tension. Peels off and re-applies dozens of times, leaves absolutely nothing behind, and is perfect for seasonal promos, parking permits and inspection reminders. It is not for outdoor use in heat or wind.

Getting a bubble-free application on glass

  • Clean with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth.
  • For anything over about 6 inches, use the wet method: mist the glass with water plus one drop of dish soap, position the decal, then squeegee the fluid out from the center.
  • Work outward in overlapping strokes.
  • Let it dry 24 hours before cleaning the glass.

Opacity

Remember that clear plus light-colored ink is barely visible. Ask for a white underbase if the design needs to stay solid, especially on tinted or dark glass.
